Catching Up.....Jeremy Turns Scorer!!!
Jeremy Scores, Preds lose in Overtime to Brendan Shanahan
Brendan Shanahan scored all three goals for Detroit as the Red Wings battled back to defeat the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime on Sunday night at Joe Louis Arena. Jeremy Stevenson and Denis Arkhipov scored for Nashville as the Predators earned a point for the third straight game.
The Predators (33-26-10-3) got on the board first at 5:16 of the first period when Jeremy Stevenson scored his second goal in as many games. With Nashville on the power-play, Marek Zidlicky sent a shot from the point that was deflected by Stevenson past Detroit goaltender Curtis Joseph to put Nashville up 1-0. Zidlicky and Steve Sullivan picked up assists on the play.
Shanahan would tie the score at 1-1 with a power-play tally at 8:33 of the first period. Steve Yzerman sent a pass to the side of the net to Tomas Holmstrom who quickly fed it to Shanahan who was camped out at the opposite side of the Nashville net. Shanahan banged it in for his first goal of the night and 21st of the season.
Nashville regained the lead after Martin Erat made a perfect pass to a streaking Arkhipov at 2:20 of the second period. Erat broke free behind the net and as he came out front he sent a pass through traffic to Arkhipov who was breaking in from the point. Arkhipov directed the puck past Joseph for his ninth goal of the season, putting Nashville ahead 2-1. Vladimir Orszagh picked up the second assist on the goal.
Shanahan scored his second of the night after pouncing on a loose puck after a scramble in front of the Nashville net at 9:16 of the third period.
Just 40 seconds into the overtime period, Chris Cheilios sent a pass to Shanahan as he broke in the left side of the Nashville zone. Shanahan beat Tomas Vokoun high with a wrist shot to end the game and cap off his hat trick.
Vokoun made 28 saves on 31 shots while Joseph stopped 27 of Nashville's 29 shots.
The Predators went 1-5 on the power play, scoring with the man-advantage for the sixth straight game. Detroit went 1-3 on the power play.
Jeremy Dropped the People's Elbow, but it wasn't enough...sadly, no one figured out to check the heck out of Shanny and keep him away from Vokoun....
April 1--Preds Win vs. Blackhawks 3-1; Jeremy Gets Two Points but No Star?
The Preds beat the Blackhawks 3-1, with Jeremy piping in a goal and an assist, yet the three stars go to Steve Sullivan (goal and an assist) Tomas Vokoun(dude has been VERY shaky in last several games), and Ruutu from Chi. WHAT?????? A friggin' TWO POINT NIGHT is not worth a FRIGGIN STAR????? Come on!!!!
Jeremy played his heart out, and should have been a star. The Preds continue to fight for the playoffs, and are almost guaranteed in. They still have to finish the regular season and then get ready!
Great work, Jeremy!!!!! You just seem to get on teams and help them over the hump....last year it was Minnesota, this year it is Nashville!
Go Preds!!!!
