North Charleston, SC South Carolina scored four power play goals including two by forward Jeremy Stevenson as the Rays beat up Louisiana 8-2 in front of 5,741 at the Coliseum.
The win was the fourth straight for the Stingrays, who improved to 32-19-8.
The Stingrays jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first period on goals by Ed Courtenay, Rich Peverley, Joe Tenute and Jeremy Stevenson. The Gators managed a late goal off the stick of Jade Galbraith at 18:23. Courtenay netted his 19th of the season with a wrist shot at 3:09; Peverley scored his 23rd of the year at 3:47 to give the Rays an early two goal lead. Joe Tenute scored on a wrap around at 9:47 for his 26th of the season and Stevenson tipped in a Mark Ardelan shot on the power play for his sixth of the season at 17:34.
The two teams traded goals in the second period giving the Rays a 5-2 lead heading into the third frame. Shawn Skiehar scored at 3:09 for the Gators, with Stevenson answering for the Stingrays on the power play at 18:38.
“Jeremy’s second goal was a big one for us,” Commented Jason Fitzsimmons. “We needed to take the momentum back heading into the third.”
In the third the Rays pulled away on goals by Courtenay, Robin Gomez and Joe Tenute.

Jeremy is showing tremendous leadership for this team, even when he doesn't score. His true grit, playing with pain and being in the E for the love of competitive hockey is a great example for the guys....Keep up the excellent work, Jeremy!!!!!
