Preds and Jeremy Destroy Rangers and Barnaby, Respectively

Preds Win!!!!

Here is the story from the Preds website:

With his former college teammate Adam Hall creating havoc in front of the New York Rangers' net, rookie defenseman Andrew Hutchinson scored at 3:50 of overtime with a blast from the point to give the Nashville Predators' a 2-1 win on Saturday at the Gaylord Entertainment Center. Former Ranger Andreas Johansson also scored for Nashville (32-23-7-2), and goalie Tomas Vokoun made 25 saves to help the Predators win for the fourth time in their last five games.

The game was played in front of a capacity crowd of 17,113 at the GEC, and the Predators improved to 21-7-5-1 on home ice.

After a scoreless first period, Johansson's goal was one of a franchise-record 23 shots fired on the Rangers' net in the second period. Jeremy Stevenson forced a turnover in the New York zone, and Johansson then lasered a shot over goalie Jussi Markannen's shoulder for his seventh tally of the season at 7:25.

The Rangers (23-29-7-5) tied the contest 4:44 into the third on a goal from Matthew Barnaby. The goal ended a shutout streak of 118:42 (dating back to Monday at Los Angeles) for Vokoun, and neither team tallied again in regulation.

Nashville had most of the five-on-five overtime with a man-advantage, thanks to a high-sticking double minor on Alexei Kovalev 1:02 into the extra session. Hutchinson's game-winning score was the Predators' only power-play goal in 10 man-advantage opportunities. New York went 0-3 on the power play.

Rangers goalie Jussi Markkanen made 41 saves in net.

Here is some feedback from Preds fans on the Preds discussion board:

from SecurityBob:
Stevenson absolutely pasted Barnaby in their scuffle. Sometime soon I gotta check out Hockeyfights.com to find out how many of the league leading fights (is it 67 now?) the Preds have had this year have gone in their favor. My guess is our boys have won at least 60% of those scraps......

from Pred303Guy:
but the best position players we had on the ice today were....stevenson,johansson,orszagh ....

...stevenson with great forechecking pressure caused that turnover that johansson intercepted and made such a pretty wrist shot over markkanen's left shoulder...sweet ....

...Stevenson....killed Barnaby in that fight....just murdered him...and don't think that didn't send an early message...nyr noted for being 'tough'...but they were quiet as pussycats for the rest of this one....way to go jeremy ....

from Canadianice:
.....thought that Jeremy Stevenson and Adam Hall played great gritty games that may have gone unnoticed by soom.....

from Predperson:
A big atta-boy to Stevenson for opening up a big can of whoop-arse on Barnaby and pile-driving him into the ice. Stevenson played a wonderful game and was responsible for drawing several penalties.

from Predlie:
the announcers, esp. Jon Davidson, were very complementary of our fans and players, esp. Stevenson....

From Coach Trotz:

We had good performances from a lot of people, in particular, Greg Johnson, Jeremy Stevenson, and Andreas Johansson.

Well, it looks like Jeremy did his usual, contributing in every way possible, and who doesn't enjoy it when Barnaby gets his sad and pathetic crybaby face beaten in?

Go Preds!!!! Go Jeremy!!!!
